Conditions of Skip Hire

  1. Skip/Container rates are based on a 10 day hire period and will be automatically booked for collection 10 days from the delivery date, if the collection date needs to be revised, please contact the office on 01737 842 311 or email weighbridge@jandjfranks.com
  2. Customers warrant that with respect each container ordered to be placed other than on private property, the permission of the Highway Authority has been duly obtained under Section 139 of the Highways Act 1980, customers undertake that they will ensure that all the conditions are subject to which the aforesaid permission is granted shall be observed at all times and in particular will ensure that the container be appropriately lighted and coned during the hours of darkness and that they are responsible for supplying lights and placing them round the contained as required.
  3. Customers requesting or ordering our vehicle delivering or collecting containers to leave the public highway shall reimburse us in full in respect of any loss, costs, claims, damages, or expenses we may thereby sustain whether as a result of damage to the vehicle themselves or the property of customers or third parties.
  4. Customers shall reimburse us in respect of any loss or damage to the vehicle whilst on hire to them from whatsoever cause the same may arise (fair wear and tear expected). They shall also indemnify us in respect of any claims for injury to persons or property arising out of the use of our containers whilst on hire to them howsoever the same may be caused to arise.
  5. In addition to customers undertaking to observe at all times the conditions subject to which the permission of the Highway Authority is granted as aforesaid (including in particular the provision of lamps and traffic cones) if containers are sited anywhere else where they are likely to be a contributory cause of damage or injury to third parties during the hours of darkness, customers shall provide adequate warning lights on the containers and they shall also ensure the safe loading of material into the containers
  6. Skips must not be moved once positioned by our vehicles
  7. No burning of waste in containers.
  8. Containers must not be loaded above the top of the sides.
  9. Containers must not contain (unless previously agreed);
    • Asbestos
    • Gas Bottles
    • Fridge & Freezers,
    • Fertilisers or their empty containers
    • Aerosols of any kind, or containers that have had any in.
    • Oil drums and paint tins full or empty
    • Batteries
    • Any form of Hazardous Chemical. Materials
    • Gripfill (sealant) Tubes – full or empty
    • Plasterboard
    • Fluorescent Tubes
    • Pesticides
    • Televisions
    • Materials as defined in the WEEE directive (Electrical items)
    • Large Paper reels
    • Certain items such as Mattresses, car/lorry tyres and tree roots will be subject to a surcharge
